The bridge, built in 1927, is at the end of its service life. This site on Route 340 is approximately a tenth mile south of Route 685. Route 340 is a two lane roadway in this area.

The new bridge will be built to the west of the existing bridge with relocated approaches that reduce curves on Route 340 at this location. This will be a two-lane bridge about 10 feet higher than the existing crossing.

The average daily traffic volume on Route 340 is 5,280 vehicles per day. By the design year of 2038 the estimated average daily traffic volume is 7,600 vehicles per day.

Design plan approval is scheduled for spring 2014 with right of way activities beginning in fall 2014. Advertisement for Construction is scheduled for early 2016

The total estimated cost for this project is $5.9 million, including $784,907 for preliminary engineering, $17,500 for right of way and $5,155,000 for construction.
