While taking an evening stroll through the Historic District of Shenandoah Va, one will observe the great architectural designs of the decorative gable decorations on some of the older homes. Most of these look to be the original old-fashioned, solid wood, handcrafted millwork. There are still companies that still make wood and PVC (vinyl) gable decorations. Most of these homes are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. According to the National Register, over nine homes along 2nd street were built approximately 1880.
