My latest video is about Historic Stevens Cottage. On this project I collaborated with Charles D. Stevens (grandnephew of Miss Mamie Stevens). Mr Stevens provided me with some exceptional family photographs. One in particular is a very early portrait of Miss Mammie Stevens taken when she was in her early twenties. Another rare photograph is one of the earliest pictures available showing the Shenandoah Land & Improvement Office soon after it had just been built. And since the cottage is used for various community events, I have included in the video, a recent picture of Mayor Lucas honoring U.S. “Jack” Rinaca as one of the Shenandoah’s most distinguished residents, at a reception held at the cottage. The video also has pictures of all rooms in the cottage decorated with some of the original Stevens sisters’ furniture. At the conclusion of the video is a picture of an original hand painting by Brenda Borus -A Christmas Evening of the Lamplighters at Stevens Cottage. Copies of this print can be obtained by contacting Brenda Borus at 540-652-1277. I would also like to thank John & Brenda Borus for once again providing me with excellent background music. - Amos Thomas
