Have you visited Shenandoah Town Hall lately and seen all the items that have been donated to the museum room? If so you would have seen that the museum room is full and a lot of the larger items are now being displayed in the lobby. The latest items to be donated were two large display cases paid for by Mr. Bob Smith. Mr. Smith was a former resident of Shenandoah and now lives in Maryland. One of these cases displays some military memorabilia for his mother and father that also once lived in Shenandoah.

Also on display is a manikin wearing a World War II Navy Uniform that belonged to Mr. Richard T. “Dickie” Mills. Mr. Mills received the Navy Citation for Heroic and Meritorious Service as a member of the Engineering Force, USS Lexington, subsequent to the Battle of the Coral Sea, May 8, 1942. These items were donated by Norma Mills and her daughter Tracy Stratton. Another large item you will find on display is a USS Shenandoah coffee Table that was donated to the town on July 27, 2015 by Sandi Shanahan. The table was made by the crew of the USS Shenandoah for her late husband’s (Captain James F. Shanahan) upcoming retirement. We just scratched the surface on what items that have been donated to the town. One could spend a couple of hours looking over all the items the town has on display in the lobby and in the museum room. The Town Hall is open Monday - Friday from 8:30Am to 5Pm.
