On Saturday December 12, 2015 The Town of Shenandoah held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Big Gem Park. The audience enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies served by the Shenandoah Indians Baseball Club. Mayor Clinton Lucas read the Legend of The Christmas Tree. Everyone enjoyed Christmas carols as performed by a small choir and Monica Brewer. All the children were excited when Santa arrived. Santa was wearing his vintage suit and was escorted to the park via fire truck, driven by volunteers from Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department. This year’s ceremony took place under the picnic shelter. This was the first time this ceremony was held at this location. Everyone seemed to enjoy the new location as it was more room for the performers and audience under the pavilion. The pavilion and rear parking lot was well lite. At the conclusion of the ceremony, all children lined up to have their picture taken with Santa.
