Shenandoah held its 18th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, Saturday May 23, 2015 at the Shenandoah VFW Post 8613. A special recognition of all veterans by branch was performed with service members called to the front of the audience. Mayor Clinton O. Lucas, Jr. spoke about Vietnam 40th Anniversary & end of the war. Guest speaker was U.S Air Force Staff Sgt. Joshua Hutcherson. Avis O. Comer Post 8613 raised the American Flag and played taps. Pastor Ellen martin gave the invocation and benediction. Monica Brewer sang the National Anthem and Vice Mayor Kite sang and played music throughout the service. The ceremony honored and paid tribute to the Virginia Military Personnel killed in action since last Memorial Day USMC Thomas Sanders; USMC Staff Sgt. David Stewart; US Army Maj. General Harold Greene; & USMC Sgt. Charles Strong.
