COOTER’S IN THE COUNTRY TO MOVE OVER THE MOUNTAIN€ TO LURAY, VIRGINIA
Hey Y’all,
Alma and I are delighted to announce that our Cooter’s in the Country store in Sperryville,
Virginia is moving west over the Blue Ridge Mountains to Luray, Virginia in neighboring
Page County. Our parking problems have created an untenable situation at our current
location but we have found a wonderful new location just above the Shenandoah River
about four miles west of the famous Luray Caverns. We’ll still be on Highway 211, but
we’ll be only about ten minutes from Interstate 81, a major north/south highway.
The building is the former home of Outlanders Motorcycles, and it is an ideal setting for
what we want to create. There is a very large space for our Dukes Museum, room to
do live music events, a restaurant area, and acres of parking areas. It sits in the beautiful
Shenandoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and the Massanutten Mountain. It’s in one
of the prettiest spots in the United States.
It is truly a perfect spot to build what we hope is a lasting tribute to The Dukes of Hazzard
and to the traditional American values which the show embodies. We have always
been treated like gold by the folks in Page County, and the County leadership reached
out to us, helped us immensely, and has made us feel extremely welcome.
We sure hope that we will see you in Sperryville before we close that store on October 31st.
(And don’t forget our concert with Cooter’s Garage Band on October 22nd to raise money for the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department.) On November 1st, we’ll begin our move over
the mountain.
Thanks to all of y’all who have been so supportive for so many years. You make us all proud to be from Hazzard County!
Best Wishes,
Ben aka Cooter and Miss Alma
