A new event for Shenandoah’s Memorial Day Festival this year will be a
Memorial Walk. It will take place at Big Gem Park on Saturday May 28 at 2pm. Since 2006, Mayor Lucas has honored a Virginia soldier who died while on active duty. Counting this years’ honoree (James Buriak), we have 24 honorees. There will be 24 posters that will be mounted to metal brackets and they will be placed them along the Clinton Lucas, Jr Trail in Big Gem Park. This will be a solemn event in respect of the current and past honorees.
