Memorial markers lay less than a hundred feet of each other; mark the spots of two recent automotive fatalities. Over the years, several vehicular/motorcycle accidents have taken place at this location. One accident occurred in July 2009 that took the life of Casey Amos and the most recent accident happened on March 17, 2012 that took the life of Clarence Hughes. A close examination of this stretch of roadway reveals that it has very little shoulder with a steep drop off. One may wonder why VDOT hasn’t improved this area by building up the shoulder area and installing a guardrail. This area is located near the Verbena Subdivision, just south of the Shenandoah Town limits.
