To all our volunteers and cooperators. Thanks for your continued support. We couldn't operate without your time and generosity. The following will bring you up-to-date on Page One activities and concerns:
1. We are in great need of more volunteers. Every activity we are engaged in could use more volunteers. Can you ask a friend, a neighbor or church member to volunteer with us? A few hours once a week would be very helpful. Our greatest need is for sorting clothes, straightening shelves, and helping in the food pantry.
2. Upcoming - Can you help with the following?
a. October 5 - Food and yard sale at Valley Auto Sales beginning at 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
b. October 6-7 - Heritage Festival - 10:00 am - 5;00 pm - booth of glassware and food booth
c. Oct. 11 - Peeling of apples for Apple Butter for Page One at Clyde Gray's house (778-2201) starting at noon, Oct. 13 boiling of apple butter starting at 5:00 am
3. Accomplishments;
a. Morman Grant - $1,000 in grocery goods
4. Status:
a. Revenue for August - $42,026 compared to August 2011 - $24,940 - an increase of $17,086
b. Expenses for August - $39,069 compared to August 2011 - $27,677 - an increase of $11,392
c. Family Assistance provided for August $11,733 for Luray and $2,229 for Shenandoah
d. Food Pantry - Luray 274 families served; Shenandoah 43 families
5. The Board of Directors recently revised parts of the personnel management book. One item they want to draw everyone’s attention to is the need to maintain all client information confidential.
6. Our current food pantry needs:
cereal, green beans, canned meat, spaghetti, powder mashed potatoes, canned fruit, canned mixed vegetables, pasta, hamburger/tuna helper, mayo, jelly, bread
7. Special benefit for Page One - month of October every Wednesday 11:00 am - 10:00 pm - All you can eat Spaghetti fundraiser at Uncle Buck's - portion of proceeds will be donated to Page One
8. The end of the current tax year is fast approaching. Please consider Page One for your financial contributions.
