Dear Residents of Shenandoah,
This letter is to let you know what your Fire Co. has been doing and plans on doing in the near future. First off, the Shenandoah Vol. Fire Co. just purchased a new 2018 tanker to replace the existing 1982 tanker. The new tanker is due to arrive in Mid-August. The tanker will be a big help in providing a better water supply for our rural neighbors. This has cost the Fire Co. approximately $425,000 to update. This is where you can help us. The Fire Co. would like to keep you up to date on our fundraising activities, in the hope that you will come out and support our efforts. SO, PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDERS!
- Bingo is held every Tuesday night at the Shenandoah Community Center. Food and Drinks are provided. There are 2- $500 Jackpots, Treasure Chest that increase weekly, $100 payout on regular bingo game during the month of April. We have pull tabs with 3 progressive jackpots at $2000 each, ATM on site, door prizes and much more. A new addition to Bingo is Powerhouse Gaming, video slot machines. Come out and join us for some good clean fun, food, and gaming. Doors open from 4:30 - 11pm.
- The Community Center is available to rent. You are able to rent the building for your plans as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Private Party, Group Meeting or any other occasion you in need of. You can rent the whole building or half the building depending on your needs. If interested, you will need to contact the Fire Co. at 652-8888 for rental prices and bookings.
- We have planned a Miss and Master Shenandoah Fire Chief Pageant on Sunday, April 2, 2017. The location will be at the Community Center. For more information contact Amanda Housden at 540-244-9595.
- We have planned an Easter Breakfast at the Community Center, Sunday April 16th from 6:00-11:00am. The menu will consist of Fresh Sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes, scrapple, gravy, juice, and coffee. We are looking forward to serving you before, during and after Church Services.
- We will be having Easter Portraits taken at the Community Center starting from 12 noon till 4:00 pm during the Easter Breakfast, Check your mail for a flyer coming soon. Come on out, in your Sunday best, eat and have a family portrait taken at the same time!
- Memorial Day weekend, will be held on May 25-27 located at the Carnival Lot, adjacent to the Community Center. The Ladies Aux. is planning on doing a Cake wheel. Entertainers are needed for the evenings. We already have a couple groups coming for your entertainment. Might even have some Karaoke. Join us for some fun on the Carnival Lot with good food, rides and entertainment. Bring your blanket and/or chairs. Cakes are NEEDED! If you would like to donate a cake, even a pie, Please call 652-8888.
- Saturday, July 1st is our annual Fill the Boot Campaign. Make sure you make a trip to town and bring that loose change or dollar Bills!+
- July 29th, is our annual Bull Run Ride to the VFW. The Fire Co. will be providing an escort for the bikers coming into town. Stop by and show your support for the Veteran Motorcycle riders that are coming.
- August 5th is the Sixth Annual Shenandoah Fire/Rescue Poker Run. If you ride, bring out your motorcycle for a fun filled day of riding. A meal will be provided after the ride with plenty of Door Prizes.
10. It is estimated that on or around the 9th of August, the new Tanker will arrive. Stop by and see it, we will be proud to show it off.
11. August 21-26 is Page County Fair. We will be back at the Fair Grounds serving your favorite fried ham and tenderloin and our famous French fries.
12. September 9th is the annual 340 yard Crawl, be on the lookout for your firefighters having a roadblock in Shenandoah on that day.
13. October will be our annual Fund Drive Month. Be sure to check your mail for a letter from us. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
14. October 7-8 is Page County Heritage Festival at the Luray Fair Grounds. Make sure to stop by our booth for our Famous cooked pinto beans and corn bread along with country fried ham and tenderloin sandwiches.
15. December 24th (Christmas Eve) Santa comes back to town!
This is a list of just a few things we do for our community. Watch for advertisements of other activities that we may have planned that is not listed in this newsletter. We hope that you can make some of the activities and show your support for the Shenandoah Vol. Fire Co., Inc. volunteer services provided since 1906.
