A Facebook group page has been created to uncover the truth about Urban Westenberger. The Facebook page is called Urban Westenberger - Fact from Fiction. They are trying to find out Who was he?
Why did he come to Luray of all places? Was he really a loner, only child, eccentric recluse?
This Facebook page was started in February and already has gained 125 members in a few weeks. This page is to document and post the facts surrounding Urban Westenberger, his travels, location of his house and details about the Mausoleum he built for his parents in Luray. This group is private, you will have to request to be a member. Only members can see who's in the group and what they post. In a short period of time, this group has documented a two-page time line of Urban Westenberger’s travels in the United States and other key points in his life. They have posted many newspaper articles that have been written about Urban Westenberger, to including two articles documenting when he finished building his mausoleum and the ceremony that was planned for that event.
If you google Westenberger mausoleum, you will see many details and rumors surrounding Mr. Westenberger and this Facebook group has proved lots of them to be inaccurate and untrue.
The mausoleum he built, is still standing. It’s in bad shape, as vandals and party goers have destroyed the inside of the museum. The bodies of this mother and father have been removed from the mausoleum. One of the mysteries this group is working on is what really happened to the bodies of his parents. All they have to go on is the following paragraph has been written on the internet: “ In 1994 a local Luray officer was called along with the local funeral home owner Mr. McGrady to get a body that was dumped in a ditch by local teenagers. Upon arriving to the site, the body was recognized by McGrady as that of Westenberger's mother. The body was then buried in a local cemetery.”
