On September 13, 2009, our mother, Lois Jean Comer, lost a courageous battle with cancer. In honor of our mother, the running of the third annual Lois Jean Comer Back Road Challenge will take place on March 24th, 2012. All proceeds from the race will go to the Lois Jean Comer Memorial Scholarship fund which has been established as an annual scholarship to be given to a deserving Page County High School senior to help further his or her education.
Race: Lois Jean Comer Back Road Challenge
Where: Race starts on 6th Street in Shenandoah, VA
Time: 8:30 AM sharp for the 5K race
8:35 AM sharp for the 5K/2 mile walk.
Distance: Runners: 5K
Walkers: 5K or 2 miles
Course Description: Race will start at the corner of Maryland Avenue and 6th Street. Race will follow Mom’s and our Grandmother Mildred Phillips walking route from 6th Street left onto Shenvadel Avenue right onto 7th street and then a quick left onto Osceola Avenue. Then left on to 10th Street and right onto the Back Road where the race will continue to a turn around point on the Back Road and then return back to the start/finish line at the corner of Maryland Avenue and 6th Street. (PLEASE NOTE: There will be no water stops this year on the race route!) Bagels and other foodstuffs, fruit, and free beverages will be provided at the finish line
Entry Fee: $25.00- Make checks payable to Lois Comer Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Registration must be received by March 10th, 2012 in order to receive a T-shirt.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female finisher.
