As reported in the Town Council Actions March 13, 2012, Under Parks and Recreation News the Committee is exploring the idea of relocating the Scout Park to Big Gem Park and turning the existing Scout Park into a dog park in memory of Gus, if enough donations can be obtained for this purpose. Scout Park was designed and built by Cub Scouts of Pack 48, Parents of Pack 48, Leaders of Pack 48, Girl Scouts of Troop 342, and Leaders of Troop 342. A lot of local businesses and residents also made contributions to this project. The dedication ceremony was held in the late 90’s with Virginia's Lieutenant Governor John Hager in attendance. Scout Park is located in Shenandoah, at the intersection of Denver Avenue and Ninth Street.
