The fire whistle toned at 3pm on Wednesday May 18, 2016 and Beany Jarrell departed the Shenandoah Fire Station for the last time. Beany served our community for 63 years as a member of the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Department. Our community will greatly miss him.

Wayne "Beany" Jarrell, 78, of Shenandoah, died Saturday May 14, 2016, at his home with his wife and son by his side. A son of the late John and Katie Jarrell Rinaca, he was born in Page County on July 13, 1937.

He served in U.S. Navy and was employed with Reynolds Metals and retired after 37 years. Beany was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company for 63 years where was the oldest active member and previously held the positions of chief, captain and president.

On September 03, 1959, he married the former Shelby Jean Foltz, who survives. Also surviving are son, Steven W. Jarrell of Shenandoah and sister, Linda Rinaca of Richmond, VA.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Christ United Methodist Church in Shenandoah with the Rev. Stephen R. Creech officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites by the Avis. O. Comer VFW Post #8613.
