Big Gem Park contains more than the highly visible pond & gazebo, it actually is spread out over 68 acres! The best way to see the natural beauty of Big Gem is by walking or biking along the trail system that was installed in 2009.

This trail system has been tidied up over the last few weeks and is now in very good shape. New signs have been posted, guiding guest around the trail system pointing out Clinton Lucas Jr.Trail, 7th Street Trail. The Big Gem Doubletrack & Big Gem Pump Track is currently in bad shape, they will be repaired when town maintenance and volunteers have time to work on them.

There is a trail entrance coming in off 7th Street west that most folks don't know about. We went walking around the trails over the past few days and were amazed at how many blooming Dogwood's and Redbud trees we saw! We took a lot of pictures along the trails as you will see!

While walking thru the trails in the park, you may also stumble upon a variety of wildlife that makes the park its home. You may see, squirrels, turtles, rabbits, birds, toads, frogs and you may even spot one of the white tail deer that visit the park late in the day or early in the morning.

One doesn't have to go very far in this 66 acre park to discover it's natural beauty. There is something to discover during all seasons of the year.
