Shenandoah’s Mayor Clinton Lucas, Avis O. Comer Post 8613 and Town office staff and maintenance crew presented local veterans and citizens with another very touching and moving ceremony on Saturday morning. Every year the Memorial Day Program at the VFW Post in Shenandoah gets better and better, and this year was no exception! Saturday’s special guest speaker was Shenandoah’s own LTC. Phillip Flip Secrist, III. A special tribute was given to Spc. Brian Bucky Anderson, whose family members attended the ceremony. Bucky’s friend Mr. Tyler Orebaugh was also one of the guest speakers. Oldest member recognition of Shenandoah VFW Post was given to Mr. James L. Good. Musical performances were performed by Bill & Sue Kite, Monica Brewer, Clinton & Sue Lucas. The pledge of Allegiance was performed by Nathaniel Brewer. Taps was performed by CTM 1 James E. Thompson. Flag raising and presentations were performed by members of Shenandoah Avis O. Comer Post 8613. Invocation & benediction was given by Pastor Robert W. Smith. If you have never attended a Memorial Day Ceremony in Shenandoah, mark your calendars for next year I am sure you won’t regret it!
