This Independence Day has a new meaning to two Shenandoah Residents. Jeffery and Jaylin Staples just recently found out that they had an ancestor that fought in the American Revolutionary War. To commemorate Independence Day, they visited the grave site of their 6th great grandfather Christian (Christley) Grove. Christley assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Private in Captain Michael Reader’s Company of Virginia Militia. The Grove family cemetery is located between the Brick House Nursery and Mt. Carmel Christian Academy in Luray Va. Jeffery & Jaylin are the children of Jackie and Jeff Staples of Shenandoah.
