It is our privilege to announce that Page County WILL be the home to Cooters Place! Just confirmed. We thank everyone for the mass outreach from our community! The support has been overwhelming and a proud example of what we can accomplish in Page County when we work together! Welcome Cooters! Will be located at the former Outlanders/EJs on 211 West, Luray. News release and picture from Page County Economic Development & Tourism Facebook Page.

The below announcement was posted on Ben Jones aka Cooter Facebook page

COOTER’S IN THE COUNTRY TO MOVE OVER THE MOUNTAIN€ TO LURAY, VIRGINIA

Hey Y’all,

Alma and I are delighted to announce that our Cooter’s in the Country store in Sperryville,

Virginia is moving west over the Blue Ridge Mountains to Luray, Virginia in neighboring

Page County. Our parking problems have created an untenable situation at our current

location but we have found a wonderful new location just above the Shenandoah River

about four miles west of the famous Luray Caverns. We’ll still be on Highway 211, but

we’ll be only about ten minutes from Interstate 81, a major north/south highway.

The building is the former home of Outlanders Motorcycles, and it is an ideal setting for

what we want to create. There is a very large space for our Dukes Museum, room to

do live music events, a restaurant area, and acres of parking areas. It sits in the beautiful

Shenandoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and the Massanutten Mountain. It’s in one

of the prettiest spots in the United States.

It is truly a perfect spot to build what we hope is a lasting tribute to The Dukes of Hazzard

and to the traditional American values which the show embodies. We have always

been treated like gold by the folks in Page County, and the County leadership reached

out to us, helped us immensely, and has made us feel extremely welcome.

We sure hope that we will see you in Sperryville before we close that store on October 31st.

(And don’t forget our concert with Cooter’s Garage Band on October 22nd to raise money for the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department.) On November 1st, we’ll begin our move over

the mountain.

Thanks to all of y’all who have been so supportive for so many years. You make us all proud to be from Hazzard County!

Best Wishes,

Ben aka Cooter and Miss Alma

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS FOR ROUTE 602 BRIDGE AT ROCKINGHAM-PAGE COUNTY LINE September 2016

STAUNTON The Virginia Department of Transportation has posted weight limits on the Route 602 (East Point Road/Maryland Avenue) truss bridge over the South Fork Shenandoah River. The bridge is located near the town of Shenandoah at the Rockingham-Page county line.

A regularly scheduled inspection recently showed that the bridge can no longer carry heavier commercial loads. The structure now limits single-unit vehicles (such as dump trucks or delivery vans) to no more than 27 tons. Combination vehicles such as tractor trailers are limited to 34 tons.

The Route 602 bridge has been in place since 1955, but incorporates trusses that date back to the 1920s. VDOT is developing plans to restore the structure to an unposted condition, and will announce a work schedule when it is available.

We used photo editing software to enhance the picture! We can assure you that all of their weight restriction signs are standard VDOT size.
