Things are looking up in the Town of Shenandoah. Nothing has opened up in the space vacated by McDonalds, but we see where Marina Tropical restaurant will soon be opening on Quincy Avenue.

The banners on First Street proclaim we are a Historic Railroad town. We have a pocket park where visitors can sit and watch the trains as they come and go. To add to the train theme, we now have a new business called the Box Car Deli and Subs conveniently located on First Street across from the train station. The Pullman Inn is another train themed business located on First Street. There is plenty of room for more train themed business on Historic First Street!

This week we learned that the Budget Inn has been purchased by Lydia Mountain Lodge. The hotel is located on Long Avenue and it has a new owner and is currently being renovated. With some rooms completed, there is now a manager/caretaker living on-site too. The extensive hotel renovation is gearing up to be something the Town and surrounding communities can be proud of. We appreciate the Shifflett's bringing a piece of Lydia Mountain to Shenandoah! Watch for future notices as we hope to announce a grand-opening (when renovations are complete) with the owners sometime in the near future.

The North Side Dinner changed owners this year and based on the number of vehicles in the parking lot, their food has customers coming back for seconds!

Earlier this month Sullivan Mechanical celebrated 70 years in business! Mayor Clinton O. Lucas, Jr. presented the Sullivan's with a letter and plaque of appreciation for their business in the Town of Shenandoah.

We wish everyone a very Happy New Year and we look forward to continuing to keep you informed of all the good Newz in 2017!
