Dave Hinkle wasn't a good man. He was a GREAT man. Every time he saw me he would go out of his way to talk to me about things in town. Most of the times conversations were around tennis, Memorial Day events or experiences in coaching sports that he would share with me. Once he thanked me profusely for coaching his granddaughter, Alexis, in tennis and what that experience had meant to her. His kinds words inspired me to continue trying to be a positive influence in a challenging world that is changing rapidly around us.. He was a great leader in our town and I'm sure I'm not the only one that appreciates all he has did for our community.- Kirk Comer.
I have known Dave for 40+ years, going back to when he was a teacher and Coach at Page County High School. While I was taking pictures around town, Mr Hinkle always saw me and gave me a big smile as I was about to take his picture. Many of us had the pleasure of sharing a table with Dave at Rudy’s Diner. I saw him at Rudy’s on numerous occasions. He would always join me at my table and we would chat about the recent or upcoming events in town. -- Amos Thomas
