Update Thursday March 18, 2021: The developers are not wasting any time developing the lots at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Ninth Street in Shenandoah. Today they took down the old barn. Thank to Jackie Staples for providing us with the two photographs showing the barn being demolished.
From the January 26, 2021 Shenandoah Town council minutes, in item 6 we saw “Approved a water and sewer application for construction of two new homes on lot 5 and lot 6 on Ninth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for Moccasin Investments, LLC to be built in 2021.”
This is the same location that the town approved subdivision of lots in the September 22, 2020 Town Council minutes.

There has been a lot of new homes built in the Town of Shenandoah over the last few years. Here are locations of just a few that we have seen built lately, 500 block on Seventh Street, 500 block on Shenandoah Avenue, 700 block on Osceola Avenue, 100 block on Grandos Street, 100 block on Second Street, 1000 block on Romona Avenue. There also have been four homes constructed and sold recently at the 600 block on Second Street. Currently one is under construction on Central Avenue. Also, there are several houses in town that are being remodeled. There are also new homes being constructed in Forest Knolls Subdivision also. We have also observed that these homes don’t stay on the market long before being sold!
The lots that these homes are being built on, have been vacant for over a half a century or longer. When the 2020 census results come out later this year, the population of our small town may show a small increase!
